PLAYWRIGHT, TOM CAVANAUGH

Tom Cavanaugh is a celebrated playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker with a knack for crafting compelling stories for the stage and screen. A graduate of the Actors Studio Drama School with an M.F.A. in Playwriting, Tom's work has consistently garnered critical acclaim.
His full-length play, BEHOLD, is a standout, winning a 2011 Pickering Award and being named a finalist for the New American Playwrights Program at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. His play INLAND EMPRESS, which premiered in Los Angeles, was recently published by Next Stage Press, making his work even more accessible to theater lovers.
Tom's talent extends to the screen, where his screenplay for BEHOLD won Best Feature Screenplay at the Bowery Film Festival. His award-winning short film SERVICE ME has won multiple awards, including Best Comedy at the LA Independent Film Channel Festival. Most recently, his screenplay BEDBUGGERS won the Grand Prize for Drama at the 2024 Fade In Awards and was a finalist at the Hot Springs Screenplay Competition and Mystic Film Festivals.
Tom is an active member of the creative community, including The Actors Gym, Naked Angels, New Ambassadors and the We Make Movies film collective. He was also honored as one of twelve selected playwrights for the 2023 PLAY LAB at the William Inge Theatre Festival. Recently, became a member of the Playwright/Director Unit at The Actors Studio in New York City.
